Frank Lampard has reportedly fuelled speculation that he is all set to make a Chelsea move for Leicester City ace Ben Chilwell.
Now look the January transfer window is just a few months away and many Blues fans are getting excited about the prospect of Lampard delving into his transfer kitty to try and add a few ‘world class players’ to his very exciting, and talented squad.
And one player that has reportedly come onto the radar of Frank Lampard is that of Chilwell, who is now easily regarded as one of the finest left-backs in the Premier League after developing into a real class act with Leicester over the past few seasons.
His performances for both Leicester and England over the past few months have suggested that he is now ready to leave the foxes and try himself at one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League, with a whole host of clubs chasing the player.
And after his man of the match performance against Montenegro during the week, the Metro says Chelsea fans spotted the fact that Lampard had ‘liked’ the post and believe that it’s a signal of the club’s interest in the defender.
Lampard was present at Wembley as England celebrated their 1000th competitive fixture by booking their place at Euro 2020, and Chelsea fans were quick to get excited as their manager watched the impressive Chilwell in action.
Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent recently claimed a left-back is the one area where they can strengthen in the coming windows and he believes Chilwell would do that, despite the fact the Blues have the impressive duo of Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri in that area of the pitch.
Bent said on talkSPORT: “I don’t know how much money they’re going to have if this ban is overturned, but if they can go and get Ben Chilwell I think that’s really the only position where you’d say ‘well, if we can strengthen somewhere, it will be there’.
“And if you’re going to get him, then yeah I’m all for that. But they don’t need to go and make wholesale signings.
“I think they could have a look at the squad, see where they might be a bit light, there’s injuries and stuff, but you don’t need to go and buy, other than the left-back with Ben Chilwell, any starters.”
Look CHELSEA do have some very exciting youngsters in the squad and they have very bright future, but Lampard does need to add some experienced players to the side if they are to get back into the habit of winning things.
Chilwell is a top-class player but Chelsea do not need him yet and should now make a move.
