Manchester United ‘consider January move’ for Edinson Cavani and more transfer rumours

All the latest Manchester United transfer rumours and gossip including an update on the search for a new striker.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to sign a striker in the January transfer window and Paris-Saint Germain forward Edinson Cavani has emerged as a target – according to reports.

United have endured a difficult start to the season and their lack of firepower has led the United boss into the transfer market, with Juventus’ Mario Mandzukic strongly linked with a switch to Old Trafford.

However, 90min claim Cavani’s name is on their list of targets alongside Mandzukic.

The Uruguay international is out of contract next summer meaning United could wait to sign him for free next summer but a January move remains a possibility.

Thomas Tuchel confirmed he is unsure of the striker’s plan ahead of their fixture with Nice.

He said: “It’s too soon to speak about such things. I’m sure Edi is speaking with the club. He knows it’s his club.

“I don’t know Edi’s ideas exactly at the moment. I count 100 per cent on Edi this season.”

Elsewhere, reports claim that United are also engaged in a transfer battle with Premier League rivals Tottenham over Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder, Denis Zakaria.

Solskjaer is eager to sign a replacement for Ander Herrera who departed for PSG in the summer and Zakaria is a target according to Bild.

The 22-year-old is also attracting interest from Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan after some impressive performances in the Bundesliga.
